Medium-sized Landscape

When discussing the brief with the client it was proposed that the various garden compartments surrounding the house be connected to allow for a seamless flow.  We presented a design with clean geometric lines that harmonized with the existing architecture.

The lie of the land presented presented major challenges due to the severe gradient and level changes. Retaining walls resolved these issues. A series of floating steps facilitates pedestrian access.

Floating Steps

Concrete flagstones were laid on constructed pedestals and plinths to provide access and create interest and intrigue.

4-Way mirrored Trees

The internal courtyard was empty, four wheeled tree boxes were planted using indigenous Lavender Trees (Heteropyxis natalensis).

Open Veggie Garden

The stylized open veggie garden serves to provide fresh produce to the adjacent kitchen.
